چکیده

DEAR EDITOR, We read with interest the technique described recently by Moran et al. for controlling intraoperative haemorrhage during cutaneous nasal surgery. We would like to suggest a similar technique that we have found useful in our department for skin surgery in the temporal region. The superficial temporal artery runs through the temporoparietal fascia, and supplies a wide region of soft tissue superficial to the temporal fascia via the frontal and parietal branches. The trunk of this artery can be found reliably by palpation anterior and superior to the tragus, superficial to the root of the zygomatic arch. Firm digital pressure at this point reduces bleeding from the proximal wound margin of excisions in the temporoparietal region. This can be achieved without discomfort to the patient (Figs 1 and 2) and facilitates haemorrhage control. A short video clip (Video S1; see Supporting Information) is included to illustrate the efficacy of this technique.

Complex Nasal and Periorbital Reconstruction Using Locoregional Flaps: A Case Report

Facial reconstruction is one of the most challenging problems faced by a reconstructive surgeon. We present a case of complex facial reconstruction with a composite trauma to the nose resulting in near total loss of skin and lining along with complete loss of left eyebrow with exposed frontal bone and partial loss of the left eyelid. We combined a temporoparietal fascial flap for reconstruction...

A Comparative Study Between 595-Nm Pulsed Dye Laser with Cutaneous Compression and Cryotherapy in the Treatment of Solar Lentigines

Background: Although cryotherapy is still the first-line therapy for solar lentigines, due to side effects such as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), especially in patients with darker skin types, pigment specific lasers should be considered as initial treatment. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of cryotherapy in comparison with 595-nm pulsed dye laser (PDL)...
